By looking who is online, and sending a text message you can also check whether the contact is ready for a call.

§ Example 1: Call from UK Vodafone phone to PC with Skype.

Let’s say Mary is on IM+ for Skype Software, lives in UK and her carrier is Vodafone. Mary wants to call her friend who has Skype on her PC. SkypeOut rate will be equal to destination rate for calling to UK Vodafone of €0.205 per minute plus the connection fee rate (€ 0.039).

§ Example 2: Call from UK Vodafone phone to landline in USA.

Let’s say Mary is on IM+ for Skype Software, lives in UK and her carrier is Vodafone. Mary wants to call her college friend who lives in USA, Florida to her phone number. To calculate the SkypeOut rate, just add the destination rate for calling to to UK Vodafone (€0.205) and the destination rate to call to USA (€0.017). So the rate to call from USA to UK via IM+ is €0.222 per minute plus the double connection fee rate (€0.078).

You can save even more by using ANY landline number instead of mobile!

SkypeOut tariffs to landlines and mobiles are different and in most cases calling to mobile is much more expensive than calling to landlines. You can enter any landline number (it can be the phone number of a friend you came to visit, or even a phone number of a local restaurant) in the Call Back field in IM+ and the call will be forwarded to the number you indicate.

§ Example 3: Call from UK Vodafone phone to landline in USA with Call Back to landline.

Let’s say Mary is on IM+ for Skype Software, lives in UK and her carrier is Vodafone. Mary wants to call her college friend who lives in USA, Florida to her phone number. To make the most economy call Mary enters the landline UK number of her Mother in the Call Back field. Now the rate will include the destination rate for calling to to UK landline (€ 0.017) and the destination rate to call to USA (€ 0.017). So the rate to call from USA to UK via IM+ is € 0.034 per minute plus the double connection fee rate ( €0.078).
